In brief, what does your company do or what’s its Unique Value Proposition, if the first is obvious?

“Kjaer Weis is a luxury organic beauty line that values sustainability, pro performance, highest quality ingredients that work with the skin; and our entire line is refillable. Our architecturally stunning and intelligent design is meant to minimize waste and to be refilled again and again.”

 

What’s your role in the company?

“At Kjaer Weis, as the Director of Ecommerce, I’m the gatekeeper and the starry-eyed dreamer of our website, performance marketing, and creative/branding. It’s essential to create & innovate as it is to understand your data-driven parameters.”

 

What’s the best part of your job?

“Without question, my favorite part of my job is growing and developing the skill sets of my team. It’s really important to me that people feel valued and fulfilled, especially when we spend much of our time at work.”

 

What’s the toughest part of your job and how do you deal with it?

“Achieving a healthy balance between being proactive yet nimble enough to react swiftly. It’s a challenge many organizations face, but the best strategy is to plan ahead and implement SLA’s (internally and externally), which then allows us the bandwidth to be reactive when it’s business critical.”

 

What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve received?

“There’s a learning opportunity in everything. Continuous improvement is something that I cherish and hold dear since my time at Amazon. Keeping humble, acknowledging that you don’t know everything, and opening your mind to learning is really important to growing professionally and personally.”

 

What three tech things can’t you live without?

“My headphones – I love listening to music. It’s my preferred form of solitude.”

“Keyboard shortcuts – I’ve heard this shaves hours off my work day.”

“Turning my apartment into a smart home – I mean, come on, who doesn’t love being able to turn your living room into a disco by the command of your voice; it’s the new clapping lights.”

 

What inspires you in your day to day working life?

“Knowing our finished projects will be seen/used by our customers. At the end of the day, we’re here for our customers and however we can make their days just a little bit easier and more colorful is a great motivation.”

 

What particular challenges is your business currently facing and how are you addressing them?

“As we commit to social distancing, we’re limited from accessing nonessential things. Creative production has been rather interesting, but we’re getting creative (literally) and MacGyver’ing to get things done! It’s incredible what we can accomplish given the circumstances.”

 

What opportunities do you anticipate coming out of the COVID pandemic for your business and how are you planning for it?

“Topics such as clean, natural, self-care, etc. are at the forefront of consumers’ interests right now, but for us, sustainability has been at the center of our brand’s core values since Kjaer Weis was founded 10 years ago. I’m eager to see our brand’s relevance to the demand shock we’ve all been experiencing. We’re ramping up our marketing efforts, revisiting email flows, scaling paid channels, optimizing reviews, all the while being mindful of our messaging and being cognizant to the impact the pandemic has had on everyone.”
