Platform Migration Without the Risk
Move to a platform better suited to what comes next.
Carry forward the content, data and value that matter.
Platform Migration
Platform migration is one of the most significant technology decisions a luxury brand can make, with material risks if it is handled poorly. Broken URLs, reduced search visibility, data inconsistencies and extended downtime can affect customer experience and commercial performance.
Skywire manages platform migrations through detailed planning, controlled implementation and structured validation. We plan around the content, data, search visibility and customer journeys that matter while moving the business to a platform better suited to its future ambitions.
Our Approach
We begin with a structured audit of the current platform, including content, data, integrations, customisations and SEO assets. This informs a migration plan with clear milestones, risk mitigations and rollback procedures.
Products, customers, orders, content and metadata are mapped, transformed and validated using migration tooling designed for the project. Reconciliation and testing help reduce the risk of data being lost or corrupted in transit.
URL mapping, redirect implementation, structured-data migration and search monitoring help carry organic search equity forward and provide visibility after launch.
We test the agreed functional, performance and regression criteria before launch. Where appropriate, we use parallel environments, validate connected systems and manage cutover through a documented release and rollback plan.
De-risking the transition
Migration planning includes rollback procedures, staged cutover options and, where the platform and project allow, a period of parallel running.
Following launch, we monitor agreed measures such as search visibility, conversion and site performance so the team can identify and respond to unexpected movement.
This approach gives clients clear controls and visibility throughout the transition.

Frequently Asked
How long does a platform migration take?
The timeline depends on catalogue and content volume, integrations, custom functionality, data quality, testing, internal approvals and launch constraints. Discovery establishes the delivery plan, and complex migrations may be phased to manage operational risk.
Will we lose our search rankings?
A migration can affect search visibility. We reduce that risk through URL inventory and mapping, redirects, metadata and structured-data migration, crawl validation and post-launch monitoring. Search performance is assessed against the pre-migration baseline, but no fixed recovery period or ranking outcome can be guaranteed.
Can we run both platforms simultaneously during the transition?
Parallel running can be used where the architecture and operating model allow it. It may support validation before cutover, but it can also introduce data synchronisation and operational complexity. We assess whether it is useful during migration planning.
What about our existing integrations?
Integrations within scope are mapped and assessed, then retained, reconfigured, rebuilt or replaced according to the target platform. Test plans cover priority data flows and third-party dependencies, with residual risks recorded before launch.
