Of course, London Fashion Week (LFW) has long been established as one of the main events on the fashion calendar. However, while LFW is customarily held twice a year (in February and September), you may have also heard a lot about the June edition of LFW coming up very soon.

In 2024, LFW June will run from Friday 7th to Sunday 9th June. Somewhat more importantly, it is set to pack a huge amount into those few days, especially with this year marking the 40th anniversary of LFW as a whole.

Here are just some of the highlights on the schedule for LFW June…

A big focus on menswear brands

This is very much standard with LFW June. However, this year, the event’s organisers (the British Fashion Council, or BFC) will be shaking things up with the introduction of a “40 for 40” programme.

Between them, British brands and designers will host a total of 40 activations — including catwalk shows and presentations — across the city. To see exactly which designers will be involved, check out the full LFW June schedule.

BFC NEWGEN

Here at Skywire London, we take pride in our status as a marketing agency for luxury brands that in many cases, might be only just emerging on the fashion scene.

For this reason, we are especially eager to see the fruits of the BFC’s NEWGEN initiative. This ongoing segment of LFW intends to elevate the profile of up-and-coming fashion designers who have demonstrated a “strong aesthetic and innovative approach to design”.

DiscoveryLAB

This is another section of LFW where interested observers can look forward to seeing the work of fashion designers that are currently on course to become big names in the industry.

At DiscoveryLAB, creatives get to show off exciting new projects merging elements of fashion, music, art, photography, and performance in an especially immersive setting. In June, those creatives will include Clara Pinto, Nicole Zisman, and Genevieve Devine.

A Celebration Of Culture

What is A Celebration Of Culture? It is a photography exhibition set to highlight three particular cultures that have proven hugely influential in the history of the British fashion industry. The exhibition will showcase work of the following photographers:

  • Stephen Akinyemi, exploring black culture
  • Tami Aftab, capturing South Asian culture
  • Dani D’Ingeo, documenting queer culture

The exhibition will also inform a number of further events — including an “in conversation” talk with LFW guest curators Simran Randhawa, Kai-Isaiah Jamal, and Clara Amfo.

Panel talks curated by 1664 Blanc

Having cemented its prestigious partnership with Kronenbourg Brewery’s fruity wheat beer brand 1664 Blanc, LFW will host a number of panel talks on the Sunday.

The scheduled events include “A Conversation on Diversity” with Vogue Business diversity journalist Maliha Shoaib, as well as “How to create, build and sustain a fashion brand” — with Evening Standard fashion director Victoria Moss and fashion designer Charlie Casely-Heyford lined up as participants.

Skywire London is a marketing agency for luxury brands that are looking to not only follow the LFW June action, but also extend their own promotional reach through various means — including, but not limited to, search engine optimisation (SEO) and influencer marketing.
