How Brands Are Joining The Fight

In this short summary we look at the efforts brands are making to fight the coronavirus.

Nike & New Ballance

Both athletic brands have moved towards mask manufacturing for both medical staff in hospitals around the world and patients. Nike has also pledged $2 million aimed at helping communities affected by the pandemic locally, regionally and globally.

Mercedes Benz

The team at Mercedes Benz has joined forces with all seven British based F1 teams to form a co-operative device designed to help fight Coronavirus has developed a breathing aid Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)  to help patients out of intensive care sooner.

LVMH

LVMH will use the production lines of its perfume and cosmetic brands to produce large quantities of hydroalcoholic hand sanitiser gels to be shipped to hospitals for free to assist throughout the period which it says will remain for “as long as necessary”.

DeBeers

Despite the Diamond industry taking a notable downturn during the crisis, Debeers have contributed $2.5 million to support communities and healthcare workers in Namibia and Botswana in the battle against the virus.  In addition they have begun development of 3D printed ventilators and face masks with steel manufacturer ArcelorMittal.

Vogue

A Common Thread is a storytelling initiative spearheaded by Vogue and in collaboration with the CFDA, to raise both awareness and needed funds for those in the American fashion community who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn more and donate here.

Burberry

Manufacturing and donating 100,000 surgical masks to National Health Service, and non-surgical gowns and masks for patients. In addition they are funding medical research at University of Oxford to help work towards a single dose vaccine and donating money to charities around the UK to assist in the fight against food poverty.

Moncler

In Milan fashion leader Moncler donated an enormous €10 million towards the construction of a new medical centre and supplies.

Elsewhere

Many other brands are also making enormous contributions during the crisis,  either by way of funding or switching manufacturing to essential equipment for front line medical staff.
